Last week I continued working on contacting businesses and individuals for the Silent Spring Auction I some became a Co-chair of a few months ago. So far we have a lot of donations, but it is still a bit of a daunting processing calling businesses and asking for donations for James' school (St. John's) during a time when our country is in a recession.
The week was spent in the usual way, Monday, Wednesday and Friday James had preschool in the mornings. Tuesday, I took Gabriel and James to Starbucks mid-morning (after breakfast) for some vanilla bean scones and ice tea and then we went to a friends house for a play date for a few hours. Thursday we went to the library in the morning for preschool story time (which is always fun and both boys enjoy the library and storytime). Saturday and Sunday we spent time as a family, with the exception of I attending a luncheon for women at our church on Saturday and James and I going on a date. It was a lot of fun spending time with other women whom I am already friends with here and meeting some new people and making some new connections at the luncheon. Husband James and son James, spent the afternoon while I was away changing the tires on the truck while Gabriel took a long afternoon nap.
James and I went on a date Saturday evening, we try to spend time out doing adult things as a couple at least once a week. We decided to go to a movie, both being Nicholas Cage fans went to watch "Knowing". Friends ---- avoid this movie until it comes out on DVD... it is less than optimal. It was wonderful spending time together though and then we went and had pizza, and then came home to our wonderful boys who both ran to the door to meet us as they heard the front door being unlocked.
Sunday we went to church in the morning and then spent the rest of the day going to the park together, getting hot fudge sundays followed by coming home and playing the yard and eating bratwursts for dinner, and the boys who both skipped their afternoon naps went to bed early. All in all an enjoyable and action packed week.
We are continuing our gardening project... unfortunately we transplanted the radishes too soon into our garden spot in our back yard and they have become weather-beaten by the abnormally chilly temperatures we had last week. The rest of our starts are inside, hopefully the warm weather is here now since it was about 70 degrees yesterday and in the next week or so we can transplant the tomato, beans, carrots and the few radish starts we left inside into our garden spot. Son James has really enjoyed our gardening project so far and loves digging and cultivating the dirt with his garden tools while wearing his own gardening gloves. Gabriel enjoys toddling around the yard and playing with his toys while we are outside. Hopefully in the next week or so we will have some pictures posted of our outside garden spot.
Your gardening project sounds so fun! I can't wait till we have a yard someday. Our deck gets full sun, so we're playing around with the idea of putting some tomatoes and strawberries out there in addition to the other plants we have. We finally got a nice Seattle day yesterday, and I'm hoping to find someone who will go check out the cherry blossoms at UW with me this week ( I have this week off). Love you guys!
